What products are subject to the recall?
The voluntary recall includes the Tegu Magnetic Floating Stacker toy, in both the available Big Top and Rainbow colorways. These toy stackers were sold in toy, children’s, and specialty stores nationwide and online at tegu.com and amazon.com August 2018 through April 2025 for about $40.
How many products are subject to the recall?
Approximately 23,700 units are subject to the recall in the United States and Canada.
What is wrong with the toy?
The recalled magnetic floating stackers toys violate federal regulation for toy magnets because they contain magnets that can become loose, posing an ingestion hazard to children.
When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning, and death.
What is Tegu doing to make this right?
Tegu has cooperated with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in conducting this nationwide voluntary recall.
Tegu is offering free replacement products for all of its customers.
We have been using the product without any issues. Can we continue to use it?
No. You should stop using the product immediately and register to receive a replacement and instructions on proper disposal on your product. Do not throw your product out until your registration with us is complete. Your safety is our top priority.
Steps Consumers Should Take
What should I do if I have a recalled product?
- Please immediately stop using the product.
- Do not throw your product out until you follow these steps and your registration with us is complete.
Register for a replacement at www.tegu.com/pages/recall or at www.tegu.com and click on Product Recalls on the top of the page for more information
- Once your registration is complete, you will receive your free replacement in approximately 7 – 10 business days.
How do I dispose of the recalled units?
You must follow our instructions on how to dispose of the product correctly in order to receive your replacement. Do not throw your product out until you follow these steps and your registration with us is complete.
You must write “RECALLED” in permanent marker on the base of the unit. You must also include your INITIALS and DATE.
You must take a photograph of the base of the unit with the words “RECALLED” marked along with your INITIALS AND DATE and send it to us via email at service@tegu.com along with your ship to address.
You must then place all of the pieces in a sealed garbage bag and place out for collection.
Do not donate these items.
How long until I receive my replacement?
Replacements are processed and shipped in 7 -10 business days after the photos of the disposed units are sent to Tegu and the registration has been completed.
Why are you making us write “RECALLED” and send you a photo?
We understand and appreciate that you would like to receive your replacement toy right away. As part of federal law and because we don’t want anyone to be hurt, we must make sure that the toys are truly disposed of and cannot be reused by others. We don’t want them being picked up and resold on a website.
Replacements are processed in 7 -10 business days after your registration is complete.

Are any other Tegu products being recalled?
No. Other Tegu products are not included in this recall.
What will the company do with my personal information used to send the replacement?
Tegu will use that information only to ship the product.
Have there been any incidents of the magnets coming loose?
Tegu has received reports of approximately 31 reports of incidents of the magnets coming loose. No injuries have been reported.
Have there been any reported injuries?
No injuries have been reported.
I already replaced this product and I want a refund.
We are glad that you no longer have the product and, therefore, that it no longer presents a risk to you, your family, or your employees. This is the most important goal of our voluntary recall.
Tegu is exclusively offering replacement units to those consumers with possession of the product in order to remove the risk from the our customers. If you know to whom you donated or sold your toy, please share this important announcement with them.
I want a refund.
Tegu is exclusively offering replacement units in this recall. Tegu is a small company and is not able to provide refunds.
With the replacement product we are providing, you and your family will receive the item you purchased (or received as a gift) with all of the same functionality (and fun) that you wanted when you first bought the product. Even better, your replacement toy will be brand new, as opposed to the product currently in your home. We appreciate your understanding.
Tegu was founded to create a positive social impact in Honduras. Tegu has established a toy factory outside Tegucigalpa to create jobs and employ over 200 people who earn a living wage. The company aims to bring a new employment standard to Honduras through responsible business practices and uses sustainably sourced hardwoods, working with local cooperatives to help the forest's natural regeneration process.
